Claude and Melanie from DL Chemicals: “The values and norms of DL Chemicals are very similar to those of Job Talent”
The Belgian company DL Chemicals develops and produces high-quality, sustainable sealing and bonding solutions. They enlisted Job Talent to fill several technical vacancies. How did this contribute to the company’s growth? HR Business Partner Melanie Roels and Operations Director Claude Devos are happy to tell you all about it.
Melanie: “I’ve been working in the HR department at DL Chemicals for nine years. My responsibilities are very broad: from recruitment and payroll preparation to supporting operational matters. That’s why I often work with Claude.”
Claude: “I started here about two years ago, but before that, I worked for 30 years in the food industry at another Job Talent client. I’m responsible for operational policy, from investments and digitization to structure, vision, and personnel organization.”
Need for long-term technical staff
Claude: “We had one open position at DL Chemicals for a forklift driver. I already knew Job Talent from my previous job, where we often worked together to fill forklift driver vacancies. So I knew they specialized in this area.”
Melanie: “The initial meeting with our contact person at Job Talent went very well. He quickly identified the profile we were looking for. Meanwhile, a second vacancy – a position in the production department – was also quickly filled through them.”
Claude: “Job Talent recruits these profiles for us from abroad. An added bonus is that they also provide housing for their international temporary workers. Job Talent provides housing near our company; they can even bike to work. In addition, both Job Talent and we support them in learning Dutch, making it easier for them to integrate.”
Melanie: “Our goal is to fill long-term vacancies and offer everyone a permanent contract. We’re also looking for experienced people. It’s not easy to find a forklift driver with the necessary experience and qualifications. But it’s important to us that they’re truly skilled. And at Job Talent, they always succeed in finding them.”
Shared values
Claude: “The values and standards of DL Chemicals are very similar to those of Job Talent. For example, we consider accessibility very important. If there’s a problem, we can always reach our regular contact person. He even visits people at home if necessary.”
Melanie: “Furthermore, a sense of duty is essential to us. People who cut corners don’t belong here. Our contact person at Job Talent doesn’t tolerate that either. We also highly value humanity. He has a full team of colleagues who speak the language of the international temporary workers, so communication runs extra smoothly.”
Positive evolution
Claude: “I’ve seen DL Chemicals change for the better over the past two years. This is partly because we’ve put a shared goal on paper and made it clear to our employees. We’re ambitious and want the company to run smoothly. I focus strongly on mentality: that our people value order and cleanliness, that they have the right attitude to do their work well, that they receive more training… And that strong mentality is something our temporary employees definitely possess as well.”
Melanie: “I’m very pleased with the evolution we’ve made since I started here. We’re working on a positive and stable team that’s heading in the same direction. Nine years ago, there were a lot of vacancies here, and people didn’t stay long. We’re noticing a big difference now! And that’s partly because we’re focusing more on humanity. And because right now we have the right people on board.”
