“We make sure people truly feel at home in their new accommodation.”

12 August 2025

Those who work in Belgium through Job Talent International won’t find themselves in an empty studio apartment. Team Housing takes care of everything: from a soft bed and a bicycle to get to work to a pleasant chat and chocolates upon arrival. That’s what Richard Metz and Judyta Pokropek take care of. Together they are part of a team of 10 facility specialists who take care of extraordinary accommodation. “When everything is tidy and everyone feels comfortable, we’re happy too.”

A home from day one

New employees arriving in Belgium are housed in a finished home where everything is perfectly arranged, including a comfortable bed, a comfortable sofa, and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven or even a dishwasher. Richard and Judyta work together to ensure these homes are spotless before the first suitcases are unpacked. “We hang curtains, install lighting, check that everything works, lay a beautiful rug, and put in a few houseplants,” Richard explains. “They may seem like small details, but they make the difference between living somewhere and feeling at home” Judyta confirms: “Cleanliness is fundamental for us. I thoroughly check everything, clean and leave a welcome card with chocolates. We really make it feel like home right away.”

From leaking faucets to new curtains

There’s no such thing as a typical day for Team Housing. “Our work is very dynamic,” says Judyta. “We travel a lot, meet residents, provide explanations and ensure every home is ready.” As Team Housing’s handyman, Richard also has a wide range of tasks: repairs, furnishing, follow-up, and, above all, responsiveness. “We start each week with a schedule, but it changes sometimes. For example, if a faucet is leaking somewhere or the heating is broken, I head out immediately. Solving those things gives me real satisfaction.” He also arranges transportation: bicycles, e-scooters and occasionally even rental cars. “If someone arrives on Friday and starts on Monday, their transportation has to be ready. We arrange all that in advance, depending on the distance to the work site.”

Making time for a chat

Whether it’s a Euroworker or someone from overseas, Team Housing goes the extra mile for everyone. “Everyone is treated equally. Some people naturally need a little more explanation upon arrival. I’m happy to take the time to do so.” Contact information is displayed in every home, and the “manual” even has a photo of Richard and Judyta, so residents know who to contact. Together, they manage more than 150 homes. “Not bad, but it works because we can rely on each other,” says Judyta. “When we, as a team, get the job done in a short time, it’s truly satisfying. That’s what we do and love doing.”
