Get to know team Housing

27 June 2024

In addition to the regular Job Talent office in Hasselt, you’ll also find our Housing team there. Joyce, Loes, Merel & Alexander ensure, in short, that our international workers are accommodated well in Belgium. But there’s much more to it!

Alexander: “Facility Officer is a broad term. On one hand, we deal with housing. On the other hand, we ensure that the ‘facility’ in our Job Talent offices is in order by, among other things, resolving defects, maintaining close contact with the insurance…”

Joyce: “If something’s moving, we’re there! And fortunately, we don’t do it alone. We work together with a strong team for which we also provide planning.”

Merel: “Loes and I search for housing for foreign workers; currently, we manage just under 100 properties. We liaise with real estate agencies and arrange contracts with brokers. This way, we take care of housing and furnishings: from internet to washing machines. Furthermore, with our entire team, we ensure that everything is clean and remains in order. Is there a leaking faucet or a broken door handle? We take care of that.”

Loes: “We also support our workers. We’re in contact with them even before they arrive in Belgium. Once they’re in our country, we assist them with transportation, administration, and all their questions about housing. We also arrange their transportation to the client. Currently, we have about 120 regular bikes and 100 electric bikes in circulation.”

Motivated team

Alexander: “6 years ago, I started at Job Talent as an International Recruitment Consultant. At that time, we already offered housing, but there was no one really responsible for it. That’s why I became the very first Facility Officer 3 years ago. And I’m very happy that Loes, Merel & Joyce joined so I’m not alone anymore. We support and trust each other.”

Variety of the job

Merel: “The fun part of our job is the variety. One day we do administrative work in the office, the next day we’re out visiting properties or inspecting houses.”

The ambitions of the Housing team

Alexander: “Our goal is to keep growing so that workers from different countries can come to Belgium and also want to stay here because they’re satisfied with their housing.”

Loes: “We want to continue improving our process. Because we often go on inspections ourselves, we see firsthand what can be better. We also have close contact with recruiters who give us good tips. This way, we keep learning and getting better!”
